Microsoft has embraced the meme: the Xbox Series X fridge is real

Remember a year ago, when Microsoft revealed the Xbox Series X at the Game Awards, and some people immediately started dunking on the design? The memes came in hot and heavy. The most prominent of these was the image of the Series X as a fridge.

Well, it’s happened, folks. Microsoft has embraced the meme and created a real Series X fridge and sent one to Snoop Dogg for his birthday. In the video posted by @Wario64 on Twitter, you can see Snoop clearly bragging about his new fridge, replete with Xbox cake, Xbox bling, and a whole bunch of other goodies.

Soon after, iJustine posted a video of her unboxing her very own Series X fridge, where we get to explore the bizarre appliance from different angles:

As you can see in the video, the fridge comes in its very own replica box. It comes complete with green interior lights, realistic outside decal with replica ports on the back, a power light on the front like the real deal, start-up sounds when you open it, and the soon-to-be iconic green lighting on the top “vent.”

This isn’t just a big replica, it’s a working fridge. Sure, it might be a massive gimmick and probably won’t fit in with even the most curated gamer-chic décor, but it’s super cool. I have yet to find who Microsoft commissioned this from, or if it will be available to purchase anywhere, but I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.

Microsoft have shown themselves to be great sports over this last generation, and this will only bolster their already stellar reputation in the gaming community. It’s a brilliant publicity stunt just before the November 10 world-wide release date of both the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S.

Wouldn’t it be great if Microsoft sent a Series S replica speaker to some celeb next?
