A new angle on the horrors of war with Medic: Pacific Corpsman

Shooters usually want to make you the hero. Sometime they get subversive and even want to make you the villain. But. in either case, you'll be the one doing the shooting thank you very much. But what about all those who get shot? Well, in steps Medic: Pacific Corpsman and their unique take on the FPS genre. Instead of charging the beach at Normandy to take a foothold in Europe, you're charging that beach to race from one wounded to the next, administering aid, trying to save life rather than take it.

But it's not just about patching up. shot up soldiers. You first have to survive the battlefield to reach them dodging enemy fire. Then you have to manage limited resources and triage who lives and who dies, carrying the survivors to safety.  The game's key features as noted in the press release:

• A unique take on the war – become part of a story full of bravery, sacrifice, and determination, all soaked in soldiers’ blood.
• An everchanging battlefield – act fast, be cautious, avoid the enemy, hide from bombshells, and dodge bullets.
• Strategic thinking, smart foresight, and resourcefulness are a must – choose your methods and how to distribute the available supplies, but most of all, think before you act.
• Make hard choices – remember that you are one, and they are many. Assess the injured, determine the seriousness of the wounds, and have the final word on who gets to live and who dies.
• Experience the unthinkable – view the horrors of war with your own eyes. Hear your fellow soldiers screaming in agony. Witness the gore covering the ground. Feel the pain of those knowing they will never see their loved ones again.

Medic: Pacific Corpsmen is certainly something different and intriguing. Whether the folks at Hypnotic Ants can turn that into something that is actually really fun to play, well we will have to wait on the release sometime next year to find out.
