1971 Project Helios' new trailer looks very Wasteland-ish (in a good way)

Spanish development company Reco Technology today dropped a trailer for its upcoming strategy RPG title 1971 Project Helios, and it looks fantastic. Everything about the gameplay in this trailer is highly reminiscent of Wasteland 2 - in a very good way.

I paid a visit to Reco Technology's website for more information, and found a bunch of fun stuff. It seems that in this game universe, the world froze in 1942, with the sunlight permanently blocked. Those left alive are forced to struggle to survive against all odd. Check it out:

"1971 Project Helios is a turn-based strategy game which combines modern warfare military tactics and close combat. Firearms and vehicles are scarce, conflicts and hostilities have no end, and the terrible freezing cold annihilates friends and foes in its path. Eight characters have to join forces for a common cause: find an important scientist kidnapped by a massive stratocracy. Along their way they will have to avoid raider attacks, investigate military headquarters, and infiltrate into the territory of a dangerous anti-technological religious sect."

With eight different characters to control (each with their own specific skill trees), the combat in 1971 Project Helios seems likely to offer quite a bit of variety. The game offers nine huge explorable levels (everything from military facilities to medieval dungeons, according to a recent press release). And here I thought this was a helicopter game. Glad I decided to check.

1971 Project Helios is scheduled to release on June 9th for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC GOG and PC Steam.
