Earlier today Nintendo released a new Pokemon Direct video that talked about the future of Pokemon Sword and Shield, namely the all-new Expansion Pass. The Expansion Pass will consist of two parts: The Isle of Armor which will release this June, and The Crown Tundra which will release in the fall. Each part will contain a new area to explore similar to the Wild Area and new Pokemon to catch and battle with. New Legendary Pokemon will appear in both parts, and Kubfu in Isle of Armor can evolve into one of two elemental types depending on which game you have: Fighting/Dark for Sword and Fighting/Water for Shield. Furthermore, more than two hundred Pokemon from the previous games will make their way into the Galar Region with the Expansion Pass, including previous generation legendaries and what possibly appears to be Galarian forms of some of them. If you don't get the pass, you can still trade for those new Pokemon with a free update, or use other means such as Pokemon Home to transfer them over. Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will each have their own expansion pass, so make sure to get the one for your game.

Prior to that though, Nintendo announced Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, an updated remake of the original Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team games release back in 2006 for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. Fans of the original games won't have to wait long as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX will launch on March 6th, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch.

Check out today's Pokemon Direct to see even more surprises for the Pokemon World, including how to obtain a Galarian Slowpoke today that you can evolve into a Galarian Slowbro or Slowking with the two expansions.
