Draugen finally steps out of the shadows

More On: Draugen

Talk about a blast from the past. It's been so long since I posted the teaser trailer for Red Thread's Norwegian noir mystery Draugen that I almost forgot it existed. It's been a long, rocky road to the game's release but if all goes to plan, Red Thread will be releasing the game next month. There's a much-updated trailer for the game below, which details Edward Charles Harden's search for his missing sister in a misty fjord town during the 1920s. Edward is accompanied by his precocious ward Lissie, but they find the town abandoned, and littered with sinister clues.

I'm really hoping Draugen turns out to be great, especially considering it looks similar to numerous period piece mysteries released in the last few years, that turned out to be tedious walking simulators. I'm a little worried that the game's been percolating so long that other studios have stolen its thunder in the meantime. To put it in perspective, Red Thread has been developing Draugen for six years now; I met my wife, dated her, she finished school and then we got married and moved twice in the time Red Thread has been working on this game. In any case, we don't have to wait much longer to find out if Draugen lives up to its longer than usual development cycle.
