Here's what you're doing from now until May in Anthem

More On: Anthem

A roadmap is essential for living games. Online games like OverwatchFortnite, and the newly launched Anthem are meant to engage players for months-long stretches, if not years-long stretches. This goes beyond many single-player game strategies that want you to play past Steam's two-hour refund policy, or simply not trade the game back to GameStop after a week. Living games need to continually tease future updates to downloadable content, expansion packs, season passes, or, if nothing else, quality of life improvements on the horizon.

Developer BioWare has a roadmap for not-fully-shooter-looter/not-fully-action-RPG Anthem. It's a three-month outline of new Missions, freeplay events, and new cosmetics. Beyond that, the roadmap hints at Act 2 and Act 3, Anthem's equivalent to "seasons," content that likely pushes the game through Summer, Fall, and Winter 2019.

From what's left of February, the roadmap has three Freeplay Events that pop up in the world for anybody and everybody to tackle. There's Outlaw Outrage, There Be Giants, and Shaper Surge.

March is themed the "Evolving World," adding new cosmetics, rewards, Missions, and plenty more Freeplay Events.

April is "Stronger Together," which expands character progression, throws in new rewards, adds more social play features, and, as can be expected by this point, new Freeplay Events.

May is when the Cataclysm starts. These are going to be major events that will, undoubtedly, require high-powered characters that have the wherewithal to form solid squads relying on good communication, coordinated tactics, and probably a little sense of humor to keep spirits up during difficulty spikes.

That's what we have so far. I'm personally having a good time with Anthem, early 6-out-of-10 reviews be damned. Keep an eye out for our full review, coming soon.
