Askiisoft and Devolver Digital announce Katana Zero, launching this March

More On: Katana Zero

It's clear that developer Askiisoft understands that best part of the Prince of Persia series was the time travel mechanic. It made everything better: stylish slow-mo combat, or rewinding to save yourself from a fatal mistake. Askiisoft has taken that to heart in its upcoming actioner Katana Zero. The time travel aspect looks like it's been cranked up to eleven. You can slow time just enough so that you have the reaction time to reflect bullets with your sword. You can also rewind after getting killed, but it looks like it sets you back at least several seconds, so your punishment for death is dealing with the last several enemies you killed.

Askiisoft and Devolver Digital are slating Katana Zero for a March release on PC and as-yet unannounced consoles. Just look at this freaking trailer; I can't wait.

Austin – Developer askiisoft and ninja enthusiasts Devolver Digital have announced their partnership to bring the near-future samurai story Katana ZERO to PC and console this March [katanazero.com].

Katana ZERO is a stylish neo-noir, action-platformer featuring breakneck action and instant-death combat. Slash, dash, and manipulate time to unravel your past in a beautifully brutal acrobatic display.

Sigh.

Look, we could give you all sorts of overwrought marketing language about Katana ZERO and what an insanely b a d a s s  game it is but let’s be honest - you’re going to be way better off watching the trailer.

So just take a breath to prepare yourself and watch it: https://youtu.be/vOdcl39LRo0

Katana ZERO will be playable at PAX South this weekend at the Devolver Digital booth and if you dress like a samurai we will give you the game for free because we respect your dedication to reading a press release this far down.
