PS VR's Torn offers a brief peek inside the mansion

More On: Torn

As Gaming Nexus' local PlayStation VR enthusiast, I am very interested to check out Torn, the new puzzle-based exploration title that is releasing in a few days. A brief new trailer has been released that offers another peek into the tech-haunted mansion where Torn takes place.

In a post over on PlayStation Blog, several of the key figures involved with the production of Torn reveal its deep science fiction roots.

“The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror were huge influences for this story,” lead writer Susan O’Connor says. “Both shows are such a strange mix of horror and sci-fi and drama. And both shows do such a great job of finding the monsters hiding in the shadows of everyday life, like watching our nightmares playing out in the real world.”

“Torn was fascinating to score and is one of the most interesting games I have worked on since BioShock,” says composer Garry Schyman. “Both share a dark mystery at its core that shocks when discovered by the player and both were spectacular opportunities for a composer moved by passionate work.”

The visuals in Torn continue to look extremely impressive, particularly for a VR title. I'm interested in seeing how this sketched vision of St. Basil's Cathedral (pictured below) comes into play in the storyline. This entire experience is shrouded in mystery, and I am looking forward to poking around in the dark corners of Torn's  world.

Torn releases on PlayStation VR on August 28th, and can be pre-ordered right now for the discounted price of $25.49.
