WWE 2K19 to debut new "Towers" Mode

WWE 2K19 is getting a brand new game mode called "Towers" mode, and seems very similar to Mortal Kombat X's "Living Towers" mode, an arcade style game mode where you fight up an arcade style ladder with various challenges along the way.

Here is the rundown of what to expect in Towers mode.

Towers mode will feature two types of Towers.

  • Gauntlet - Players will need to complete the gauntlet tower in a single sitting. Quitting early or losing a match resets progress back to zero
  • Steps - Players progress through the Tower, one step at a time, at their own pace.

Here is what you can expect in terms of challenges and modifiers during the Towers.

  • Tower Goals - Each tower has it's own specific set of challenges like reaching high scores or simply reaching the end of the tower.
  • Stipulations - Matches may start with the player or opponents buffed. Examples may be starting with finisher icons or starting with red health.
  • Match Types - While there will be plenty of one-on-one matches, there may be other surprises as well such as Iron Man matches, Submission, Steal Cage, Tables, Falls count anywhere and more.
  • 2K Towers - Special themed Towers that focus on highlighting the WWE roster, events or match types.

This new game mode is also how players can participate in the AJ Styles Million Dollar Challenge. AJ Styles will have his own tower called the Million Dollar Tower. All opponents are set at the highest difficulty and health does not replenish between fights. To participate in the Million Dollar Challenge, here is what you need to do.

  • Step One: Beat the AJ Styles Million Dollar Tower in WWE 2K19 while playing the game on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One;
  • Step Two: Record yourself cutting a promo video on why you have what it takes to beat AJ Styles in WWE 2K19. The video must include visual proof of the completed AJ Styles Million Dollar Tower screen to confirm you earned the in-game achievement;
  • Step Three: Visit 2k.com/milliondollarchallenge to submit your promo video!

New game modes are always welcome in WWE games but I hope this is just the first of new additions that will be announced for this years game. The community has literally begged and pleaded and asked for at least 10 years at this point for the return of GM Mode. Hopefully this year will be the year it finally happens.

That said, there is one thing that myself and others are extremely worried about and that is the "Loot Pack Store" button that is on the bottom of the screen. Seriously, the community was as outspoken as possible last year that we do not want loot box nonsense making it's way into WWE games. Unfortunately, it appears that our requests may have fallen on deaf ears.
