Realm Royale announced for PS4, closed beta starts…next week!

Well jeez, that was quick.

Realm Royale, the new battle-royale game that has been the new hotness on Steam for about a month has been announced for PS4, and the closed beta is starting next week (sign up here).

In addition to the standard battle-royale shenanigans that everyone knows and loves, Realm Royale adds a sweet dollop of fantasy cream. Players can choose one of five classes at the beginning of a match, offering a bit of customization to the game play that other games are missing.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Hi-Rez Studios Community Manager Josh Nash give the dish on classes. “Are you a Warrior, leaping into battle throwing massive axes? An Assassin, hiding in smoke screens, blinking through windows, and sniping your opponents? Mages can soar through the skies and rain fireballs, while Engineers can deploy turrets and Hunters are masters of the bow.”

Realm Royale also features mounts, which can be used to cross the terrain at a high speed. And instead of epic weapons randomly dropping in chests, they can be created at buildings called Forges. When you light up a forge to create your Legendary, the whole area finds outs about it, and aggressive types will quickly hunt you down, leading to a risk/reward scenario for those that can’t resist the big guns.

And then there’s that whole thing with the chicken. What is the deal with the chicken? Let's just say that it gives a new meaning to the term "Chicken Dinner".
