Welcome to Jurass... er, Ark Park

More On: Ark: Survival Evolved Ark Park

What do you get when you take one part Jurassic Park, one part Kong Skull Island, and wrap it up around Ark: Survival Evolved? Probably Ark Park, the new VR multiplayer game from Snail Games. The game is promising the most open of an open world experience imaginable, as a hyper-realistic dinosaur theme park simulation. It lets you freely traverse the grounds without restrictions, plot, or schedule to explore the park at your own pace. What it does provide is an opportunity to choose your own adventure:

  • Explore a variety of maps without a linear storyline.
  • Collect eggs and incubate them to raise your own little dinosaurs. Then keep the hatchlings warm and fed to watch them grow. You can even use the Ark: Survival Evolved warpaint feature to pimp your dinos.
  • Find materials such as Dinosaur DNA and trade them to craft useful items and more powerful weapons.
  • Defend the park and its vital technology from rampaging dinosaurs across 6 levels from tropical rainforests to snow-covered mountains and expansive plains in wave style combat of rampaging dinosaurs
  • Revisit the dinosaurs from ARK: Survival Evolved.
  • Work as a team to complete these objectives in multiplayer VR.

Ark Park will be available on Steam VR for the Vive, PSVR, and Oculus Rift on Thursday, March 22 to coincide with the Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco. Two editions will be available at launch: the standard edition and a deluxe version that nets you extra outfits and an exclusive dinosaur mount.
