More On: Friday The 13th: The Game

Those tears taste so delicious. Earlier this week I posted about how Gun Media going to start cracking down on people who are cheating or griefing in Friday the 13th: The Game. Whether it's idiots cheating by using glitches, people who help Jason, or others that are just downright toxic, the community has been begging Gun Media to do something about this and Gun Media has delivered.

The fun and games have come to an end for these people as Gun has banned around 300 people from the game so far for being idiots and they are still reviewing reports so more bans are probably coming. Of course now you have a bunch of babies that are complaining that they are being banned unjustly because the exploits are the fault of Gun and that they should fix the game. No, just no. While yes, glitches and exploits are the fault of the developers, that does not give you free reign to cheat and ruin the game for others.

Gun has also outlined how you can earn yourself a ban from the game and honestly, a lot of this should be self explanatory.

  • Deliberately Helping Jason - This one is trickier; we will ban the Jason player and those helping Jason for deliberately 'helping' Jason win a match through killing other teammates or working to farm XP.
  • Threats of Violence/Rape/Sexual Assault - Those using Voice Chat to threaten and harass other users with threats of sexual violence, rape and domestic violence to a degree unsuitable for social standards will result in a ban.
  • Deliberate Third-Party Hacking Software - Anyone caught with automation/speed/wall hacking and other third party macro systems to give them an edge in-game will result in a ban.
  • Racism/Discrimination - Those caught being racist or discriminatory to others will result in a ban.
  • Deliberate Abuse of Exploits - Exploit usage that results in the deliberate griefing of others to gain an advantage and overall reduce enjoyment for other players will result in a ban.
  • Do Not Pretend to be an Employee of Gun Media or IllFonic - Anyone utilizing usernames that attempt to act as a member of our team or speaks in-game as an employee of our team will result in a ban.
  • Do Not Spam Report Those You Do Not Like - Reporting users needs to be constructive; we do not ban for team-killing. Please only report those you are certain of cheating or exploiting. We will eventually ignore requests from those excessively reporting other users for actions that do not fall within these guidelines.

Gun also made it clear that the game isn't going full on political correctness however and they said that trash talking and use of words like "f***", "s***" and "c***" is perfectly acceptable. This is a Mature rated game after all.

Here is an official response about the new guidelines from ThePraetorian on Friday The 13th: The Game's official Reddit page.

EDIT AND UPDATE: We want to make it perfectly clear to our users and fans that this is a move that in no way asks you to be censored. You can yell 'f***' and 's***' and 'c***' all you want. This game is an outlet for people, and we are not ignorant to that. Think of this game like Westworld; you can screw with the in-game characters and have fun, but we're asking you not to harass the other players.

Have that outlet, have fun, go murder counselors in-game...get weird all you want, but if you believe spouting hatred and bigotry towards others and sexually harassing people is acceptable behavior, then please do not buy our game.

It's a game; the idea is to have fun, be scared and fuck around with the man behind the mask. Go nuts and play with each other. Use the mechanics of the game to get your thrills in...but please don't do things that hurt the enjoyment of others for cheap and lackluster thrills. In the end, it's no fun for anyone.

We have more content coming, more robust systems in place and right now we can't wait to get more out there for you!

If you know someone who is ruining the game, you can report them by emailing Gun Media at f13game@fearthegun.com

Just to be clear. The team needs 100% proof of someone breaking the rules. This includes video of the game with usernames present. They aren't going to start banning people based on he said, she said.
