Block'hood has a story about getting older and wiser...well, at least older

More On: Block'hood

Whoa whoa whoa. Nobody told me Block'hood was going to be the affecting story of a woman and her childhood pig friend. I was already sold on the even-more-minimalist-Minecraft aesthetic. I was already in love with the fish-in-a-Fez-bowl feel. I was already drooling over the LEGO-mini-sets look and the bricks on bricks on bricks Tokyo-like verticality. But now you give me an emotional in-game snippet of the soundtrack and exchange some words between the protagonist and her buddy? Block'hood is getting deep, y'all.

Block'hood is a neighborhood-building simulator that celebrates the diversity and experimentation of cities and the unique ecosystems within them. Budding city planners will have access to 90+ building blocks to arrange and combine and to create unique neighborhoods and discover the implications of their designs. The game will embark on a story of ecology and understanding as additional resources are always needed to unlock new blocks, configurations, and combinations to create more prosperous neighborhoods. Throughout the design process, players will need to avoid the decay of their city blocks by making sure each unit doesn’t run out of resources and become a strain on the complimentary units around them.

Steam Early Access has been kind to Block'hood, with over 400 Mostly Positive reviews. That was the city-building sim part of it. This story reveal is new, though. And full release is next week on May 11 (which means May 10 in Steam-speak). This one's been on my watch list for a year, and now it just made my must-play list.
