Good news, Darksiders fans, and fans of video games in general, I suppose. THQ Nordic has announced Darksiders III. As the excellent John has already reported, players control a new Horseman of the Apocalypse, Fury.
From the game's website, she is "the most unpredictable and enigmatic of The Four Horsemen, Fury is a mage who must rely on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil."
The game is being developed with the help of Gunfire Games, many of whose members worked on the original Darksiders.
And, as John already reported, the main antagonists, or at least the things that she'll be searching for, are the Seven Deadly Sins. The trailer reiterates this information, as Fury ascends the steps and hears disembodied voices from three giant, lava-flowing statues. We also see another protagonist from an earlier Darksiders game, War, bound in chains. So, although he 's chained up in what could be Hell, he may have a role to play.
And speaking of playing, there is no gameplay in this trailer, only cinematics. Although at the end of the trailer, it does show that Fury may have an ability to use her whip to make a demon decapitate themselves. Here's to hoping.
Darksiders III has a tentative release date for 2018. Here's the announcement trailer:
