The holidays are coming to Overwatch, Blizzard hints - to no one's surprise

Anyone familiar with Blizzard knows that they love their seasonals, and they're at it again with Overwatch. What with the Summer Games and Overwatch Halloween Terror, it was honestly only a matter of time before, in the spirit of giving, they gave us Christmas.

The official Overwatch twitter dropped this gem earlier today, and while it doesn't say exactly what we're invited to, there isn't much room for doubt. A holiday event is coming, people.

Blizzard is pretty tight-lipped about the specifics of the event, other than its start date of December 13, but dataminers have discovered more than a few details themselves. Though the company hasn't explicitly confirmed nor denied any of these claims, rumor has it that this update will include the following:

  • ONE of either a skin, emote, or highlight intro for Widowmaker, Mercy, Reinhardt, Reaper, Symmetra, Sombra, Roadhog, D.Va, Ana, Soldier: 76, and Lucio
  • TWO of either a skin, emote, or highlight intro for McCree, Winston, Pharah, Mei, Zarya, Tracer, and Zenyatta
  • a skin, emote, and highlight intro for Torbjorn, the lucky duck
  • four new maps, one of which is similar to Junkenstein's Revenge and one of which is holiday themed
  • a spray, voice line, and victory pose for every character

Again, none of these details are yet confirmed by Blizzard, but since it seems pretty similar to the playout of Halloween Terror I wouldn't be surprised if we have a bunch of digital gifts to unwrap come the 13th. And of course, by "unwrap," I mean "grind experience for loot boxes once we spend all of our money." I'm crossing my fingers for at least one ugly sweater skin, because why not?
