The tiny NES Classic Edition, scheduled for release on November 11th, just got a new trailer. It shows off the features of the micro console such as the game selection and 720p output. I'm still not getting one as there are better, more versatile retro console options, but I have to admit the marketing and timing are brilliant.

Think about it. Nintendo has next to nothing on offer for the holiday season. The Wii U is a zombie at this point and outside of the Super Mario Maker port, all the big 3DS games aren't arriving until next year. The NES Classic Mini is the perfect way for Nintendo to cash in on nostalgia with a minimum of R&D output. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually see the SNES, N64 or even GameCube Classic Mini in the upcoming years, especially as Nintendo seems to have periods of 2-to-3 fallow years and then have a big event year where they deliver a ton of new software.
