Super Mario Maker heads to the 3DS this Christmas!

In 2015, Super Mario Maker was arguably the best game that you could own on the Nintendo Wii U. It is looking as if it will be the best game you can own on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016. Nintendo has announced that the incredible game / level creation software is getting updated and released on their handheld console this coming holiday season.

Super Mario Maker for 3DS is set to release on December, 2, 2016. The new, portable version is undergoing a few changes from the original, console version. First off, there will be no online support for the game, which is a big deal. This means that you will not be able to upload and share your creations with the world. You will however be able to download select levels that Nintendo chooses based on creations previously made on the Wii U version. Level sharing in the new version is only available locally with your friends. Nintendo is also including a variety of new challenge levels to challenge even the most experienced of Mario players.

Even without the online functionality that has made the Wii U version so popular, the amount of replay value offered by this game is insane. The simplicity of the creation engine makes it incredibly accessible to young and old gamers alike. If you own a 3DS, this is undoubtedly on title that you will have to own.
