Frustrated New 3DS owner replaces C-stick with PSP nub

Nintendolife has an intriguing little story up about a handly owner of Nintendo's New 3DS--both small and XL models--and a mod he made to the system. Most fans agree that the portable's Thinkpad-esque rubber nubbin--rather generously called the "C-stick" by Nintendo--kind of sucks. It gets the job done but it is neither optimal or terribly ergonomic, with a tendency to be too stiff on recognizing downward input.

This fan decided to yank the C-stick out and simply plug a PSP slider pad onto it. While the PSP slider's bigger, knurled surface gives you more purchase on the stick and less chance to slide off, it's kind of trading for the Devil you know. I've never found the PSP stick to be all that comfortable either, and all you have to to is talk to Monster Hunter veterans to hear stories of thumbs destroyed by its hard textured surface.

It's an imperfect fix for an even more imperfect control mechanism. Here's hoping that Nintendo's next portable, NX or otherwise, has two real analog circle pads. I want to play great shooters like Moon Chronicles with true dual-analog control and a lot fewer wrist cramps.
