CES 2016: Vivitek

One of the many booths I rolled up on without an appointment was the folks at Vivitek. I have reviewed many of their projectors in the past and wasn’t able to schedule, but still wanted to sop by.

They had the latest version of their Qumi on display (Qumi 6), which had made several advancements over the version we took a look at back in late 2011. Additions and upgrade include 800 lumens, wireless content sharing, 2.5GB onboard memory and two full HDMI ports on the back. The images were bright and crisp in the display booth, which I would expect with the upgrade to 800 lumens. The color pallet has also settled in on black, red, gold, orange, grey and baby blue.

In their home theater lineup, Vivitek had two models in the booth. The first is geared more toward hi-end home theater use with the H5098. It is a full 1080P 3D DLP projector that is expected t retail near the $3,000 range. It will sport 2000 lumens with 30000:1 contract ratio, but has one unique feature. It has the option to come with five interchangeable lens options so that you can add the lens that best suits your needs. The other home theater projector that was on display was the H1060, which is more in the sub $1000 range. This model is also a 1080P 3D DLP projector with 3,000 lumens and would be a great fit for gamers or the casual user.

All three projectors Vivitek brought to the show offer unique uses and look like excellent upgrades over the predecessors. We should be able to get ahold of one of them for a review later this year so keep checking back.
