What We're Playing: Metal Gear Runbow Edition

More On: What we're playing

Hideo Kojima says a final goodbye to Metal Gear Solid. More cloud storage, YouTube streaming, and Twitter video clip sharing are all in PS4's big 3.00 update. And former Blizzard president Paul Sams donated over 1,500 Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft items to a museum.

What are you playing this weekend?

I've been working on Runbow for my upcoming review as well as trying to get further into Mega Man Legacy Collection.  I don't know about the console versions, but on Steam I'm noticing a bit of an input lag. I know others have complained about it as well. It's not bad and I can easily adapt, but in situations where there's lots of lag it can make things even worse. Case in point, trying to get a Shadow Blade out when fighting Doc Robot/Heat Man in Mega Man 3. Half of the time, the onscreen lag and input lag were so bad together that my Blade never came out. Beyond that, though, I am enjoying the challenges and trying to improve my times for several of them.

I've made some headway into Dead Space 3, and, so far, it's left me a little cold, no pun intended. The weapon-building system is counterintuitive and implicitly linked to microtransactions, but if you don't build better weapons, you get killed a lot. I don't want to build weapons—I want my trusty pulse rifle and my ripper! My brother insists it gets better when you go down to Tau Volantis and get the hang of making weapons, but I'm still a bit disappointed.

For me, this weekend is back, again, to Diablo III. I played it when it was released, played it again when the expansion came out, and now I'm playing it for the first time on consoles. A buddy of mine recently got the game for his Xbox One, and I figure any reason to go back to Diablo III is a good one. It's amazing how quickly I got pulled back into it; even though I've beaten the game five or six times, I still can't wait to hop back in each time.

Tearaway has me living in a world of papercraft. It's been impossible to wrestle the controller from my five-year-old since I got the game for review this week. She loves role-playing as the game's messenger girl. In fact, she's headed out to the mailbox right now, checking it for the fifth time today. I'm also borrowing Chuck's Until Dawn. I like how every movie or game that relies on the Butterfly Effect overexplains the Butterfly Effect like no one's ever heard of the Butterfly Effect. Either way, these teenagers are all going to die if they're relying on my geriatric thumbs to get them out of trouble with quick time events.

It's going to be Diablo III and Metal Gear Solid V for the weekend. Diablo III released their .3 patch last week and I've been in process of leveling up my monk. I'm at where I need to be so now all I need is gear. I'm sitting at two of the six items I need. Metal Gear Solid V will also be on the docket as I start Kojima's last hurrah for the series.
