What are you playing this weekend? Ark of Ultron Edition

More On: What we're playing

Last Friday, you could play old video games embedded in tweets—but Twitter put a stop to that. Google launched a Pinterest-like feature called Collections. And the Black Mesa Research Facility website's countdown timer hit zero and (sigh) revealed a remastered Half-Life 1.

What are you playing this weekend?

I recently picked up WWE 2K15 on Steam and got a new video card from a friend, so I've been spending some time with that, trying to work my way through developmental and NXT. I am enjoying it more than I thought I would (plus it's the PS4/XBO version and not the PS3/360 version), but man I suck at timing reversals. Beyond that I'll be working on finishing up Titan Souls so I can get that review wrapped up.

I bought GOG's May the Fourth bundles at the eleventh hour, so I got something like 30 sweet DRM-free Star Wars games for the price of one new retail game. I've played a lot of the classics before—Rogue Squadron, Jedi Knight, TIE Fighter, KotOR, X-Wing Alliance—but there are a couple I want to revisit. In particular, Battlefront II and the criminally underrated Republic Commando, one of the only good things to come out of the prequels. What really kills me is that LucasArts was working on a sequel called Imperial Commando, but canceled it. I've wanted an honest-to-God Stormtrooper game for years, so it really stings that Imperial Commando never saw the light of day, especially considering how good Republic Commando was at single-player squad-based combat in the Star Wars universe.

For some reason I've been on a bit of a Call of Duty: Advance Warfare binge lately, so I'll probably be spending a bit of time getting slaughtered online. Between rounds of team deathmatch, I'll be continuing to grind in Hearthstone, as that's become my favorite game to play while watching TV with my wife.

Portal Pinball is coming. Which means I have to begin prying the review code from Jeremy's cold, dead hands. Until then, I'm writing about the Zen Pinball 2: Marvel's Avengers–Age of Ultron table. I'll admit: It grew on me. I also haven't touched Dragon Age: Inquisition in a week, which is a crying shame, because that adds a week to a game that's going to take months to finish already. This game goes deep like the mind of Minolta.

For me it's something old and something new. Something old is the PC release of Ys: The Ark of Napishtim, which I was playing over a decade ago on my PS2 when it was released by Konami. Pretty eager to see what XSeed has done with it. I've also got the latest DLC for The Evil Within, which continues to infuriate me with its instant-death mechanics and stifling gameplay. And, of course, I'm working on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, getting my healer close to level 50.

Well, it's going to be a pretty normal weekend for me. That means Diablo III again and some Grand Theft Auto V. I did throw in some Left 4 Dead 2 this week to test out the new keyboard, so I might play some more of that. I forgot how much fun that game was, even when playing with strangers.
