More On: Splatoon

Nintendo is no stranger to promotional spectacles, once having turned Times Square into a tropical paradise to celebrate the launch of Wii Sports Resort. They're doing something similar for Splatoon, which arrives on May 29th. On May 15th they will hold a competition in Santa Monica, inviting various celebrities to navigate a giant ink-filled obstacle course. If this means several Disney Channel actors bumbling their way through the equivalent of a Ninja Warrior course covered in copious amounts of fuchsia paint, then they certainly have my ticket. Spectators to the event will also get hands-on time with the game's Turf War mode and a commemorative t-shirt.

Splatoon is a wild new game from Nintendo that combines the creative and family-friendly fun Nintendo is known for with ink-spraying, turf-claiming action. In the game, players take on the role of the Inklings, customizable characters that can transform into squids at the touch of a button. After splatting opponents and covering a level with colorful ink, players can transform into squids and swim quickly through their own ink or use it to take cover and hide from enemies.
