What We're Playing: Dying Light Majora's Mask Edition

by: Randy -
More On: What we're playing

Zenimax's lawyers are after another indie developer who happened to use the word "fallout" in his game's title. Sony allowed its U.S. trademark of The Last Guardian expire, though Sony confirms the game is still in development. And I new petition implies that game journalists only report on sexism and death threats for the clicks.

What are you playing this weekend?

Most of my weekend will be spent trying to stop a moon from crashing into some town with a clock tower in a three day time span. Strangely I never finished The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on the N64, which is one of the few mainstream Zelda games that I never finished. I'm currently going through the Snowhead Temple which is around where I stopped on the N64 (I finished the temple, but didn't go to the third temple). Needless to say I'm having a blast crashing into things while rolling around as a Goron.

Now that my vacation is over and I have some free time, I'm putting in some time on Knights of the Old Republic for the Game Club. I forgot just how good a game this was, with a deep storyline, characters that I both love (Bastila, Mission) and loathe (Carth, Carth, Carth).

I was left cold and unfulfilled by my adventures in Los Santos on the Xbox 360, so I'm diving back in on the PS4. Man, that draw distance gives me impure thoughts. So smart of Rockstar to focus on things like frame rate and draw distance over showy textures and particle effects. This was the GTA V I was looking for last year. I'm indifferent to the first-person view. Except for the fully animated reloads, the FPS view makes the GTA V feel like it's 10 or 15 years old.

Last Sunday I spent far too much time in Termina and I don't see that pattern changing this weekend. I'll be knee-deep in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on my New 3DS XL as I tackle the second dungeon and another round of delightfully convoluted side quests. I might come up for air (ha ha) with Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+, but not for long. What day is it? How long do I have left? Do I need to play the Song of Time again and rewind to the First Day? Send help, please.

Hooray, I'm no longer stuck in 2013. Following the advice of several Gaming Nexus staffers—but abandoning my Xbox heart—I finally got a PlayStation 4. The light, dust, and shadows in Destiny have my head swimming. The Hollywood-caliber storytelling in The Last of Us: Remastered is my first Naughty Dog game, post-Jak & Daxter. And I'll fire up my first open-world survival-horror game with Dying Light. Zombies aren't my usual, but I'm down for whatever. Current status: paralyzed with options.

This weekend I am planning on picking up something from the Critic's Choice Sale on PSN. Possibly Dragon Age: Inquisition, possibly Far Cry 4, maybe even Wolfenstein: The New Order. In addition, there will be a few games of FIFA and daily quests in Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer. Contributing to the Five Games for Life article the other day really rekindled some memories about the Killzone franchise and I'm having fun with that as my go-to shooter at the moment.
