Heart of Thorns officially announced as first Guild Wars 2 expansion

ArenaNet has finally unveiled the first true expansion for their hit title, Guild Wars 2.  Officially named Heart of Thorns, the story will represent a true re-visioning of progression in an MMO.  A new Mastery System will be unveiled that will allow players to unlock and explore new abilities for characters beyond the max level of 80.  A full list of the new additions is listed below.

• The Heart of Maguuma - A new adventure can be found deep in the Maguuma Jungle, which includes new areas to cover, new content, and new boss battles
• The Mastery System - New training opportunities await players beyond Level 80
• New Profession:  Revenant - Legendary powers are at your fingertips to slaughter foes and unleash chaos on the battlefield.
• New PVP Modes - "Stronghold" will test PVPers in all of their abilities in just how good they can be.

Much more will be unveiled as we approach the official release date, which has not formally been announced by ArenaNet.
