For us gamers, we have a lot to thank Ralph Baer for. It was he who first invented the home console. Way back in 1972, Ralph Baer developed the Magnavox Odyssey system, and the world was never the same.

Sadly, Mr. Baer passed away today at the age of 92. Video games have changed so much in 42 years, but Ralph Baer was there from the very beginning.

Not only did he invent the home console, but he also help develop the first light gun for home use.

While many remember the Atari 2600, the Odyssey by Baer really is the pioneer in video gaming with a system that never really got its due.
