What We're Playing: Dragon Age Advanced Warfare Edition

More On: What we're playing

This guy makes over $800,000 a year streaming League of Legends. If you GamerGaters send Brianna Wu a death threat, her family will pay $11,000 for evidence leading to your prosecution. And, like pretty much every Call of Duty before it, Advanced Warfare walks away with universal critical acclaim.

What are you playing this weekend?

Most of my gaming this weekend will likely be playing Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth in preparation for my upcoming review. Sadly I've never played any other game in the Persona series, save for Persona 4 Arena, but I'm not counting that for this conversation. Outside of that, I might also put more work into True Vault Hunter Mode in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, plus, with the first DLC coming out soon, and thanks to a friend who gifted me a season pass on Steam, I'm interested to see how Jack's Doppelganger plays out...aside from being another pet class, that is.

I honestly don't know if I'll have time for anything other than Dragon Age: Inquisition. It says, "The critical path can take 50 to 60 hours," and I play RPGs super slow. I got through 20 hours of it before I managed to even pick up a new follower beyond the three starting ones. If I must take a breather, I'll fire up FIFA 15. Much like Rob, I'm coming of a trophyless season, but with Jozy Altidore just now coming into his own (because FIFA Jozy is a beast), I'll play with three at the back, Jozy and Samuel Eto'o up front, and flood the midfield. I’ll be unstoppable.

I picked up some Nintendo eShop cards during a Best Buy promotion, so I bought the entire Shantae series. I'm starting with Shantae and the Pirate's Curse and working my way backwards. I really enjoyed my demo of Pirate's Curse at the Nintendo airstream last week. Wayforward sure knows how to make an awesome 2D platformer. Also I'm grinding my way through the Alien: Isolation Corporate Lockdown DLC, getting killed again, and again (and again).

This weekend I will be playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare until my eyes bleed. That's probably it.

I’ll be filled with gunfire as my household goes all shooters, all the time. Between diving back into Destiny, hitting up the playlists in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and partaking in some Advanced Warfare, my living room will be FPS Central.

I will be consumed by some more Payday 2 that I picked up on the Halloween sale Steam had. Thanks to Sean Cahill for bringing the sale to my attention (sarcasm). I'm also planning on spending some time with Destiny and the grind, as well as attempting to get back into The Evil Within, hopefully knocking it out before Assassin's Creed Unity arrives.

Thanks to the end-of-year PTO burn, I have a long weekend coming up and I think it's going to be dedicated to working my way through part of my backlog. I'll be wrapping up the Advanced Warfare campaign by then, as well as hopping on for a few multiplayer matches. I'm also planning on playing a bit more of The Talos Principle, which is a really cool puzzle game. After that, I’m hoping to be spend more time with Shadow of Mordor and the usual weekend grind in Destiny.

Failbetter Games (Sunless Sea) assembled a text adventure for BioWare called Dragon Age: The Last Court. Apparently it preludes the upcoming Inquisition, and it's firmly got my attention. Also, Kingston—you know, the folks that make SD cards—are getting into the audio game. Who knew? So I'm putting their HyperX Cloud headset through the paces, from movies to music to video games.

Gamestop's online shop had a sale not too long ago, where they put BioShock Infinite on sale for $8. Their web platform is still clunky and inconvenient, but I got a great game for super cheap—so who am I to complain? So, I'm taking a tour of Columbia where I'm going out of my way to eat and drink everything in the game. Looting every provisions barrel, dead body, and trashcan for the sweet, sweet morsels of nourishment they hold. The game's tutorial keeps reminding me that I shouldn't drink when my health is full because it drains my vigor—but that's not how it works, game. I have a problem. You can’t save alcoholism with tutorial prompts, BioShock. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to drown my sorrows in these three candy bars I found in an ashtray.

I think I am going to get back into some FIFA 15 this weekend. I haven't touched it in over a week, after some soul-crushing late-season breakdown saw a double-winning season turn trophyless. I've been playing Titanfall again since the latest update. So maybe a few rounds in there as well. I might try out the new ranking system.
