IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad out in September

More On: IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad

The most fun I had playing IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey on consoles several years ago was figuring out all the new and fun ways I could die in a fiery plane crash.  My favorite was a two-way tie.  One was watching helplessly as my wings were torn off my aircraft when I attempted to pull out of a very steep dive.  The second was suffering a punctured fuel tank, then falling thousands of unnoticed feet as I desperately tried to locate the fuel gauge on the indecipherable instrument panel of my Russian fighter suffering from intermittent engine trouble.  Looking up to discovered I was literally skimming rooftops was pretty thrilling.  I never caught what the tree I slammed into thought, however.

My point is that the IL-2 Sturmovik series is known for brutal realism and difficulty, and this September, the brutality, realism, and difficulty is back with the just announced release of IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad.  No specific day in September has been revealed, but it will be finalized later on.

Furthermore, at the official IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad web store is offering gamers the chance to buy a Standard edition and well as a Premium version with both receiving an early-bird discount if you pre-order it before June 18, 2014.  For more info, visit www.il2sturmovik.com.

IL-2 STURMOVIK: BATTLE OF STALINGRAD OUT IN SEPTEMBER

MOSCOW, Russia ?? May 27, 2014 ??1C Game Studios announces that IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad is due to be released in September 2014. The exact date will be additionally announced. According to the current development plan a public beta-test phase will be held this summer.

??Our team is approaching a very important stage of development ?? we??re almost at the finish line. Before this point we only had a draft, a rough version with basic elements of gameplay. By the time the beta starts we should have the majority of content ready, it will be a full-fledged game at that point,?? said Albert Zhiltsov, producer of IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad. ??We plan to dedicate the remaining months to optimization and bug fixing. The game has been in the early access stage since November 2013. This spring we opened up access 24/7 and we have been producing weekly updates for the past several months, which means releasing a new game every seven days. This is not the most efficient option for a development team, but this gives us a unique and valuable opportunity to get feedback from users before the game hits stores.??
