What We're Playing: inFAMOUS Deception Edition

More On: What we're playing

Oculus Rift creator Palmer Luckey has received death threats over the Facebook acquisition. Microsoft executive, Phil Spencer, will now be calling the shots for the Xbox team. And while Xbox One users have streamed 23 million minutes of gameplay, let's be honest, how much of that is actually being watched by anybody?

What are you playing this weekend?

I just got through moving back to my hometown, so naturally I don't have any systems hooked up—aside from the NES of course, and that was mainly to test a couple new parts I put in.  Basically, my gaming is being limited to my PC, and I likely won't be doing much this weekend as my room is still a mess to say the least, but I'll likely put in a bit more time with Final Fantasy VII. Now that Aerith's first Level 3 Limit Break is unlocked I don't have to grind anymore and can get on with the story.

This weekend I will be torturing and murdering poor mercenaries in Deception IV: Blood Ties. I had never heard of this series before but I saw the trailer a few weeks before the game was released and I am pleasantly surprised. This game is extremely fun. Yeah the enemy AI can be pretty dumb at times and the movement controls could be better, but it's still a great game. I am always looking for new games to play, and by "new" I mean something different, something I have never really played before. Deception IV: Blood Ties easily fits that role.

This may sound weird but I'll probably be sinking some time into Minecraft. I've been revisiting an old build I've been working on for about a year now. Some people may enjoy the survival aspects of Minecraft, but for me it's more of a Zen garden; a place to unwind and put my mind to creative, constructive tasks.

This weekend will be filled with a combination of historic, exaggerated, Japanese battle in Dynasty Warriors 8 on the Vita, spending time on the pitching mound with MLB 14: The Show on the Vita, and making a complete fool of myself in my living room with Kinect Sports Rivals. I dare you to find a more varied gaming menu this weekend.

Reading chapters of Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms between World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition matches is a multimedia peanut butter cup. It inserts a terse World War I love story into my tank 'sploding game. I'm absorbing the three new battlefields introduced in last week's Map Madness event, too. I'll also dip into Hitman Absolution, courtesy of Xbox 360's Games with Gold, and see if those sexy nuns are every bit as offensive as we were told they were.

The trailer for the third episode of The Wolf Among Us came out this week, so the good news is that it should be out next week. The bad news is that it probably won't be out until next week. If we're lucky enough to get it over the weekend, you know where I'll be.

I just beat inFAMOUS: Second Son with good karma. All I need to platinum the game is the bad karma trophies so I may run through it as bad Delsin soon. For now though, I'll be heading back into Drangeic for more Dark Souls II where I'm trying to make my mostly melee character have more intelligence for increased damage with magic weapons and an extra spell or two.

I've cleared the main campaign of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls and I'm now headlong into the game's Adventure Mode, which is ridiculously fun. I've also be playing a lot of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, thanks to the 2.2 patch which has added new instances and has me farming for items needed to reach a higher item level. Charles got me a review code for the latest Deception game which is still as fun as it was back in the PS1 era, only with a slightly glossier coat of paint. And whenever I find time in the midst of all that, I'm playing Suikoden II again.

I'll be knee deep in killing demons and farming for legendaries in Diablo III with friends. I've just gotten some new plans and I am only one piece away from a nice weapon for my Witch Doctor. The nephalem rifts and bounties really make farming fun. Along with the changes to loot, a great deal of my friends are back playing the game at all hours so I'll be there with them this weekend.
