Now Playing: The Floor Is A Link Between Worlds Edition

by: Randy -
More On: What we're playing

So, 27 million people play League of Legends every single day – that's a higher population than the U.S.'s top 12 cities combined. A record-breaking battle ripped into EVE Online, wrecking over 70 Titan-class ships worth $3,000 apiece. And Tim Schaeffer's Broken Age roams the wild, the game that arguably put Kickstarter on the map.

What are you playing this weekend?

I'll be continuing my trek through Final Fantasy VII as I didn't get a chance to play much last weekend. I'll probably be spending most of it grinding out Aerith's Limit Breaks to get the Steam achievement for getting her Level 4 Limit Break. I should have plenty of time to do that, right? Beyond that I really need to get back into The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Wind Waker HD. With A Link Between Worlds I basically got stumped when I tried to take the Lorule dungeons in the same order as the Dark World dungeons in A Link to the Past. Now that I know that's not the case I can actually try to finish the game. As for Wind Waker HD, I'm just kind of lazy and haven't done much with it recently.

I've been playing through the Mass Effect trilogy again (already tore through the first two games) but am considering going back to the beginning because of some decisions I made and I want to see how the game progresses differently. Every time I've gone from ME1 to ME2, I've let the council die in the Reaper attack. Maybe I should let them live for once.

I've come down with a nasty cold so you probably don't want me at the gettogether tonight. That said, the Circle Pad Pro XL I ordered should be arriving today, so I'll be able to put it to good use in Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater. Moon Chronicles will be using the ugly peripheral this spring, so I couldn't resist picking up one of the chunky things for dual-analog FPS control.

This weekend is comfort food. Commander Shepard comfort food. Starting from whence it all began in Mass Effect, I'm on the good old SSV Normandy SR-1, but as renegade Jane Shepard this time around. It's hard for me to relate to a Spectre that shuts people up and shoots first, but here we are. Can't wait to saddle back up into the Mako’s Blaster Master-inspired planetary exploration: Bounce! Shoot! Bounce! Shoot!

Looks like some of the hardware from the Consumer Electronics Show has started arriving, so I will be knee deep in soundbar and headphones reviews this weekend. The games will be mostly Xbox One launch titles like LEGO Mavel Super Heroes, Zoo Tycoon and Forza 5. Will probably take a visit back to Skyrim as well on the Xbox 360, just because.

I'll be diving into The Floor is Jelly, one of the many “exactly what it says on the tin” indie games to come out of last year's Independent Games Festival. I heard about it about a couple weeks ago and have been eagerly awaiting it's January 30 release date. Speaking of IGF games, I've been spending some time wandering the eerily tranquil world in Bokida; building sky-bridges to staircase my way to the stratosphere and inevitably cutting them off at the root so I can blow their remains into the bleached wasteland. You know, really uplifting stuff.

I just got my hands on The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, so I'll be diving into that very soon. I've heard great things and I'm really excited for it. I'm also continuing to hero and villain my way through LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. I'm going back and collecting all the minikits and rescuing the Stan Lees who seem to have gotten themselves in some pretty precarious situations.

This weekend will start the Battlefield 4 Customer Appreciation Month so I'm going back into the fight to earn some battlepacks and level up my recon soldier. Also, I'm going to square away some things in Diablo III so I can get ready for the expansion pack coming in a few months. Finally, I'm going to start playing some XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Civilization V now that I can stream it to my tablet and I can lay back in bed and use the touch controls to enjoy those two games without having to sit in my cold, dark basement.
