Only in its second year, Operation: Supply Drop sends donated games and game accessories to U.S. troops stationed around the globe, and also to those recovering in military hospitals. Like it or not, America is still neck deep in a Global War on Terror, and these donations are kind of an awesome little thank you for their service.
Currently I'm surfing gaming websites while sipping eggnog coffee next to a wood-fire stove in my 3 bed/2 bath home nestled in suburbia. That right there gives me perspective on some of the creature comforts these soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen are indeed sacrificing. Plus there are the insurgency bullets flying at their heads. And suicide bombers running up on them. So there's that to deal with, too.
In the latest Operation: Supply Drop, boxes (which contained a bunch of stuff from a bunch of manufacturers and publishers), accessory developers MOGA and Power A sent a ton of gaming controllers. Power A shipped Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 wireless Batman-themed gamepads, while MOGA sent 350 of their Android-compatible gamepads.
Again, shout out to all the men and women doing their time out there in the U.S. Armed Forces. Including the special forces guys that have to blur out their faces. Which is awesome.
One of Operation Supply Drop's twelve Veterans Day "8-Bit Salute" supply drops, MONKEY WRENCH, just arrived to Edwin and his platoon in Afghanistan!
MOGA and Power A Team Up to Send $12,000 in Gaming Accessories to the Troops!
Another massive donation for the troops for the holidays, this time, from two gaming accessory developers: MOGA and Power A! Power A sent a variety of Xbox 360 and Playstation 3wireless Batman themed controllers, while MOGA sent 350 of theirMOGA Gaming Controller, which can be snapped onto any Android mobile device and turn into a portable gaming system!
“Sending MOGAs to our troops is just a small way we can show support,” said Eric Bensussen, President of PowerA. “To MOGA is fun – And if gaming on a MOGA can provide an escape from the gravity of their sacrifice then we want to offer that opportunity. We’re honored to be a part of Operation Supply Drop during this holiday season.”
