Linux and Mac users are about to get their own dedicated versions of Metro: Last Light...well, Mac users anyway, as Linux users will have to wait a little bit longer.  Deep Silver and 4A Games recently confirmed that a Mac version of Metro: Last Light will be released on September 10th via the App Store and Steam, while a Linux version will be released later this year.

Both versions will receive the same DLC packages as their PC and console counterparts.  What's more is that the Steam versions will support Steam Play, which means that no matter which version of Steam you have, you'll be able to access Metro: Last Light on your account whether you're playing on a PC, Mac, or Linux.  The Season Pass, Faction Pack DLC, and Tower Pack DLC will be available at launch for the Mac release, and the upcoming Developer and Chronicles Packs will launch alongside the PC and console releases.

About Metro: Last Light
It Is the Year 2034.

Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside - and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.

But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever.

As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival - the last light in our darkest hour...

The plot of Metro: Last Light was written by Dmitry Glukhovsky, acclaimed author of the novel Metro 2033 which inspired the creation of both video games. Glukhovsky personally contributed the vast majority of dialogue in Metro: Last Light. Glukhovsky's novels "Metro 2033" and "Metro 2034" have sold more than two million copies worldwide. In 2013, his latest book "Metro 2035" will be also available outside of Russia. The film rights for "Metro 2033" were bought by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), the movie is currently in development.
