I totally can't finish this interactive fiction teaser for The Raven

More On: The Raven
You chain smoke beneath the streetlamps of 1960's Paris. You, a silhouette that's part Limbo, part Dagwood Bumstead, all private investigator, and hot on the tail feathers of the Raven, a one-man international crime wave that's rustled up a bit of fame to go along with his jewel lust.

There are easy-to-digest detective tropes at work here as you fill the gumshoes of French investigator Nicolas Legrand. But what's interesting is that the trailer--or more appropriately, the teaser--is a fully written and illustrated piece of interactive fiction. In fact, the teaser is a prequel to the full three-episode game, The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief.

The final release will be a 3-D point-and-click adventure game (and in color), but this monochromatic 2-D teaser that you can play in your browser is much more interesting.

The most puzzling aspect, however, is that when I play through the teaser, I hit an invisible wall in the museum. I can't get any further, though it's certainly not the developer's intended stopping point. Let me know if you get any further. And video game developers, grab a piece of paper and jot this down: The Raven's teaser is infinitely cooler than your half-baked marketing plan. I can't even complete this snippet of interactive fiction and I still love it with all my heart more than your countdown clock to another countdown clock.
