SimCity set to to hit stores and ruin social lives on March 5th, 2013

More On: SimCity
Electronic Arts announced today that the new SimCity  will be available on March 5th, 2013, which is a bit of a slip from the last announced release date.   I'm not sure if this is due to fit and finish issues or the competition from the release of Bioshock Infinite but as a gamer I'm a bit relieved that I'll have some spacing between the two highly anticipated titles.

John and I were both pretty geeked out by the game at E3 this year and as someone who lost entire weekends to the original I'm a bit wary of how much of a thrall this one will cast over me.  I'm really interested in seeing how the multiplayer portion of the game works away from the fixed demos we've seen at press events as the thought of having an influence over the cities of others is really intriguing.  The thought of having all of my industrial buildings at the fringe of my down and having them pollute another cities air quality is kind of interesting and could lead to all kinds of passive aggressive behavior.

Update (Chuck) - The game will be available in North America on March 5th and March 8th in Europe.

About SimCity Franchise
For more than two decades, the king of city-building simulators has sworn in millions of virtual mayors from around the world. With its return on March 8 2013, SimCity will engage an entirely new generation of PC and Mac gamers as they take charge of their own customized cities. This is a new SimCity that offers a deeper, richer game than ever before.  It has been built from the ground up to be an online connected experience, with the new GlassBox engine driving the most authentic simulation ever seen.  It has a model-like look and feel that makes players want  to reach in, poke, prod, and tinker around. Maxis has put the simulation right in front of the player so that they can see the consequences of their actions and really dig in to see how the systems work. Finally, for the first time in SimCity franchise history, SimCity introduces multicity play, which brings a new dimension as players’ decisions not only affect their city, but have a ripple effect across the entire SimCity World.
