Harmonix bringing power ballads from Foreigner to Rock Band next week

For the second week in a row, we will be getting some power ballad love from Harmonix, as two 80’s Foreigner tracks will be hitting the Rock Band store next week.  “Waiting for a Girl Like You" and "I Want to Know What Love Is" will also be joined by Finnish band Nightwish and their single “Amaranth”.

Pricing will be the usual $1.99/160 MS Pts/200 Wii Pts per song and $0.99/80 MS Pts/100 Wii Pts for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade.

POWER BALLADS FROM CLASSIC ROCKERS FOREIGNER COME TO ROCK BAND, ALONG WITH THE DEBUT OF SYMPHONIC METAL GROUP, NIGHTWISH!

Cambridge, Mass. – August 10th, 2012 – Harmonix today announced that tracks from Foreigner and Nightwish are headed to the Rock Band™  Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.

Rock Band’s gigantic music library dwarfs that of any other rhythm video game on the market. More than 100 million songs have been sold through the Rock Band Music Store since its launch on Nov. 20, 2007.

Tracks downloaded from the Rock Band Music Store are compatible with the award-winning full-band Rock Band 3 experience, as well as the upcoming controller-based Rock Band Blitz, coming August 28th for  PlayStation Network and August 29th for Xbox LIVE® Arcade!

Rock Band DLC Additions for Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii™

The library of tracks from classic rock group Foreigner grows on August 14th, when two of the band’s biggest hits come to the Rock Band Music Store! First is the popular track “I Want to Know What Love Is,” from 1984’s Agent Provocateur, which reached number one on the charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom in the 80s! Another popular Foreigner power ballad, “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” will also be available. Off of the band’s fourth studio record, 1981’s 4, it’s one of Foreigners most well-known tracks, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100!

Finnish symphonic metal group Nightwish has consistently placed among the top 10 artists in the Community Wishlist in the Rock Band Dashboard application, available now on Facebook. Harmonix is excited to have the opportunity to listen to its community, and bring this highly requested artist to Rock Band for the first time! Nightwish makes their debut in Rock Band with “Amaranth,” the second single from 2007’s Dark Passion Play, along with optional support for Pro Guitar and Pro Bass!
