Newsflash - Skyrim is popular

More On: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
As if the economy wasn't bad enough, it must be taking an extra hit right now.  I can't even begin to imagine the man-hours lost to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim this week.  How many of you out there reading this called in sick to work, skipped classes, or set aside a loved one just to lose yourself in Skyrim since its release on Friday?  According to Zenimax Media, it was probably a lot of you.  In the least shocking story of the week, they have declared the launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to be a success.  Hmmm, I wonder if it was the 50+ perfect review scores, the fact that the game shipped seven million copies in less than a week for just the Xbox 360, or maybe the fact that its release was newsworthy enough for CBS to report that gave it away.  Further evidence includes 50% of launch units being sold in the first 48 hours and Steam reporting that Skyrim set a record with 280,000 concurrent players within the first 24 hours, far outdistancing other games.  I just hope there's a copy left for me when I go looking for it later this week.  For more complete details, follow the jump.
