Namco Bandai has announced today that Dark Souls, the follow up to last year's PS3-exclusive dungeon crawling (and controller-breaking) action-RPG, Demon Souls, will be released in North American on October 4th and in Europe on October 7th for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

The Dark Souls Collector's Edition can be pre-ordered right now while supplies last for the same retail price as the regular edition, $59.99.  It will include a limited edition art book with premium illustrations of characters and environments from the game, a mini-strategy guidebook, behind-the-scenes videos and the game's soundtrack for digital download.

DARK SOULS™ ON OCTOBER 4, 2011

Spiritual Successor to Critically Acclaimed Demon’s Souls to

SANTA CLARA, Calif., (June 3, 2011) – Leading video game publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., today announced Dark Souls™ is releasing in North America on October 4, and Europe October 7, for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. A new action-role playing game (RPG) developed by FROMSOFTWARE, Dark Souls is the spiritual successor to 2009’s critically acclaimed PlayStation®3 exclusive Demon’s Souls - winner of GameSpot’s “Overall Game of the Year” and “Best PS3 Game”, and IGN’s “Best RPG for PS3” awards.
