More On: L.A. Noire
Rockstar Games is busy finishing up L.A. Noire, one of the year's most interesting games, but they still have time to compile two official soundtrack collections for the game. The first is the standard OST, an all-original score heavily influenced by the jazz motifs of the 40s and recorded by Abbey Road Studios in London. The second collection is L.A. Noire Remixed, a compilation from Verve Records that reinterprets several of the game's tracks in modern styles. I'm glad that Rockstar is doing an original score for L.A. Noire. I know most people love the licensed songs in GTA but I've always wanted them to include more original music in their games.

Today, Rockstar Games is proud to announce L.A. Noire: Remixed and the L.A. Noire Official Soundtrack.

L.A. Noire: Remixed is the result of a partnership with Rockstar Games and Verve Records that provides a modern take on music found throughout the world of L.A. Noire. This unique EP is a collection of six jazz standards re-interpreted by some of today’s most-acclaimed DJs, producers and remixers, including Dave Sitek, DJ Premier and Truth & Soul.

In addition to the remix project, the L.A. Noire Official Soundtrack was inspired by the sweeping orchestral scores of the great films of the 1940s. This all-original score was recorded in London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios and composed by Andrew Hale, whose credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and The Getaway. The soundtrack also features modern takes on the classic torch songs of the period produced and written by Stephen Coates (The Real Tuesday Weld) with guest vocals by Claudia Brucken (Propaganda) and additional music composed by Woody Jackson, winner of multiple awards for his work with Bill Elm on the original score of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption.

The music of L.A. Noire plays a critical role in the game, as musical cues help notify players where additional clues can be found, or when a crime scene has been completely scoured for evidence. Players will also hear over 32 classic jazz tracks through the world in L.A. Noire, including such greats as Billie Holiday, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Thelonious Monk.

L.A. Noire: Remixed and the L.A. Noire Official Soundtrack will also be available for purchase on iTunes on May 17.
