Harmonix adding 80's and 90's power bands to Rock Band DLC

In the something for everyone department, Harmonix will be expanding the Rock Band library next week with some rather cool additions for fans of the 80's and 90's music scene.  Culture Club, Stone Temple Pilots, Faith No More, Phish and Loverboy will all be bringing some of their top songs to the service and I imagine some Phish fans are probably dancing a jig and lighting up even as I type this.  The pricing will be the standard $1.99/160 MS Pts/200 Wii Pts per song with the $0.99/80 MS Pts/100 Wii Pts for the Pro Bass/Guitar upgrade if available.  The songs coming out next week are:

Culture Club – “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me”
Faith No More – “From Out of Nowhere”
Loverboy – “Working for the Weekend” X
Phish – “Stash” X
Phish – “Tweezer”
Stone Temple Pilots – “Big Bang Baby” X
Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

SONGS FROM CULTURE CLUB, PHISH, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS AND LOVERBOY’S 80'S CLASSIC “WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND” MAKE A JAM-PACKED ROCK BAND 3 DLC WEEK!

Cambridge, Mass. – April 29, 2011 – Harmonix today announced that songs from Culture Club, Loverboy, Phish and Stone Temple Pilots will be available beginning May 3 in the Rock Band 3 Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.

Rock Band provides the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums through the Rock Band music platform, which features more than 800 artists and more than 2,700* tracks via disc and download purchase (complete list of tracks at www.rockband.com/songs). Rock Band’s gigantic music library dwarfs that of any other rhythm video game on the market. More than 75 million songs have been sold through the Rock Band Music Store since its launch Nov. 20, 2007.

Rock Band DLC Additions for Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii
We’re bringing you party fodder for your DLC collection! Next week, “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me”, which reached No. 2 in the United States and No. 1 in the United Kingdom and Australia, off the 1982 album Kissing to Be Clever from new wave band Culture Club and “Working for the Weekend”, the 1981 No. 2 hit from Loverboy’s Get Lucky, will both be available for download in the Rock Band 3 Music Store.

Additionally, two songs – “Stash” and “Tweezer” – from jam band Phish’s 1992 album A Picture of Nectar, “From Out of Nowhere” from rockers Faith No More’s 1989 release The Real Thing and “Big Bang Baby” from alternative rockers Stone Temple Pilots’ 1996 release Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop will also be available next week.

As always, songs available as downloadable content for Rock Band 3 feature five-button guitar and bass parts, drums, Pro Drums, and keys, Pro Keys and harmonies, where applicable. Some songs also feature Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades available for an additional $0.99 upgrade download.
