Sony has shipped 4.1 million PlayStation Move controllers -Update-

More On: PlayStation Move
Coming on the heels of the Kinect sales announcement, Sony has announced that they have shipped over 4.1 million Move controllers up to today. Now, there's a difference between the two announcements. Microsoft announced how many have been sold. Sony has announced how many have been shipped to retailers so we don't know how many of the 4.1 million Move controllers are in the household.

I've always disliked the announcement of shipped versus sold. A company can ship all the units they want but what really counts is how many of said units have been actually been bought. Move's a little different beast as well since they have two types of controllers as well as a pack featuring a camera too. I've yet to pick one up as I'm still waiting on a game that really compels me to do so, but what experience I did have with the setup I found to be pretty accurate and very low on lag.

-Update- While the link to Endadget is now gone, Chad was nice enough to send me the PR that Sony has indeed sold 4.1 million Move units, which is a pretty nice feat for them. Thanks Chad!

-Update- Well, it's now shipped instead of sold. Joystiq got a confirm from a Sony rep that they really mean shipped. So, I stand by my previous post. :)
