Warren Spector goes into the Disney archives for Disney Epic Mickey

More On: Epic Mickey
One of the things that really interested me from the roundtable interview with Warren Spector we had a chance to sit in on just recently was Disney’s history in the upcoming Disney Epic Mickey. Mr. Spector explained that the team at Junction Point attempted to stay as true to Disney’s creation of Mickey and other featured characters as they possibly could fit within the sanctions of the game.

One of the biggest problems, therefore, was sifting through the Disney archives that span 80 years of history in order to determine what would be included and what would be left out. In this latest trailer from Disney Interactive Studios, Warren and other Junction Point team members explain what part of that history was included in Disney Epic Mickey and how they hoped that would resonate with players and, particularly, Disney fans playing the game.

The insight into both Disney and the game Disney Epic Mickey is interesting and worth a gander below.

Launching on November 30th, Disney Epic Mickey is an action-adventure platforming game being developed exclusively for the Wii console that sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery. As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney's long forgotten characters and attractions, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey's path to becoming an epic hero.

Through the use of this unique paint and paint thinner, the key components of animation and Mickey's tools for impacting his world, players will have the ability to shape how the story unfolds as they discover the concept of "playstyle matters"- an innovative approach to gameplay created by Disney Interactive Studios' Junction Point studio, led by industry luminary Warren Spector, where players creatively tackle different challenges in the world to explore all the possibilities and storylines - but with consequences for their chosen actions.
