I was only looking for direct, one to two word answers, but I will expand on them a little bit here:

What did the Nintendo Corporation originally manufacture?

Nintendo was originally founded back in 1889 and produced hanafuda (playing) cards. THe company has produced a couple of special edition hanafuda decks in the past few years which were available as redeemable items through the Club Nintendo service.

Complete the following phrase: “Sega does what ___________”

Sega does what Nintendon’t. This was one of the greatest marketing campaigns in the history of video games in my opinion.

Name the creator of the original Prince of Persia game?

The man, the myth, the legend: Jordan Mechner.

How many levels are available in the original Pac-man video game (arcade_ before hitting the infamous “split” screen?

This is the question that seemed to get everyone... the answer is 355. I got a ton of entries for 254 and 256... but you had to read the exact phrasing of the question, “how many “before" the dreaded split screen.

Name the two main, playable characters from Double Dragon.

Who doesn’t know the Double Dragon brothers? Billy and Jimmy Lee

What special “processing” power did the Sega Genesis possess?

As any Sonic the Hedgehog ad from the early 1990‘s would tell you, Blast P rocessing set the Genesis apart from the competition.

What score is considered the perfect score in Pac-man, that is the highest point value possible to achieve in the game (original arcade)?

3,333,360

If I were paying my taxes in order to fund Mayor Mike Haggar’s salary... which city would I live in?

I mentioned this in a recent news posting: Metro City.

Which Japanese video game was converted into Super Mario Bros’ 2 when it was brought to the United States?

Doki Doki Panic: Yeah, ther eis a little bit of interesting trivia for those of you who didn’t know the answer. What North America knows as Super Mario Bros. 2 is a completely different game in Japan. Nintendo simply took Doki Doki Panic and swapped out a couple of character designs, tweaked the story, and released it as SUper Mario Bros. 2.

What was the iconic launch date of the Sega Dreamcast in the United States?

Remember, it’s thinking: 9/9/99

Which character from another video game made an appearance in Clayfighter 63 1/3?

That would be everyone’s favorite megadrile (look it up), Earthworm Jim.

Who is responsible for the death of Gou Hibiki?

Ah, who is Gou Hibiki? A question within a question... Gou is the father of Dan Hibiki, of Street Fighter fame... and he was killed in battle by the Muay Thai master, Sagat.

In the Samurai Shodown series, what is the name of Galford’s dog?

Any true Neo Geo or Samurai Shodown fan would know that Galford’s canine companion is Poppy.

What was the name of the first known video game, which was programmed for an oscilliscope in 1958?

Tennis for Two was created by William Higinbotham on an analog computer known as an oscilliscope way back in 1958. William created the game in an attempt to cure the boredom that he and visitors often faced at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. The game made its public debut on October 18, 1958 and drew hundreds of interested visitors to check it out.

In which first party Nintendo game did Mario brandish a firearm?

Ok, ok, I give in... this is a bad question. The problem with this question is its phrasing; I should have stated it as the “first" game where Mario brandished a firearm as he would go on to use them in umerous games including the Smash Bros. and Mario Party series. The answer that I was looking for was the first time that Mario used one on his entire adventure, which would be on the SNES’ Yoshi Safari. As long as contestants gave me a reasonable answer on this one, they got credit.

What was the cheat code for the original version of Doom that game players full ammo, armor, and all of the keys?

This code is as iconic to PC gamers as the Konami code is to consoles: idkfa

Cloud Strife officially appears as a playable character for the first time in which fighting game?

No, it isn’t Dissidia... this goes back to the arcades with Ergheiz. I never enjoyed to console version of the game, but the arcade original was awesome.

What was the “in-house” name for the Atari 2600 during its development?

For some reason, developmental project names always fascinate me and I often consider them to be a ton better than the final project’s market name. While it was being developed, the Atari 2600 was referred to as the “stella".

Who was the first 3rd party publisher to begin producing games for the Atari 2600?

It is a little amazing that the first 3rd party publisher to produce games for the 2600 is still, some 30 years later, one of the top publishers in the game: Activision.

After leaving Atari, what restaurant franchise did Nolan Bushnell go on to start?

Chuck E Cheese is, where a kid can be a kid!

This infamous Atari game sold so poorly, unsold copies of the game were reportedly buried somewhere in deserts of New Mexico...

I have still never seen any 100% positive proof or debunking of this myth. Supposedly, Atari dumped a crap-ton of E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial somewhere in the deserts of New Mexico after the title failed miserably at retail. They were sure that the game was going to be a hit but it ended up being one of the worst games of all time.

Sega’s developmental “Project Mars” was eventually released as this add on for their existing console at the time...

This was another question where the phrasing was the key; in this case I was looking for the name of the add on. Numerous contestants replied with either the Sega Genesis or the Mega Drive... the correct answer was the 32X, which attached to both of those devices.

Before being developed as its own standalone console, the Sony PlayStation was originally designed to be what?

This is, hands down, my favorite video game related trivia question of all time. The PlayStation was originally the Super NES CD... or CD add-on for that little port on the bottom of your SNES. Wait it gets even better... even after the talks between Nintendo and Sony were broken off, and Sony started designing the unit as their own stand alone system, they included a slot to support SNES cartridges. There are, supposedly, a couple of these prototype Sony PlayStation’s in existence with the SENS slot. I would kill to have one of those in my personal collection...

Before settling on the name “Atari” for their company, Bushnell and Dabney attempted to use what name in founding their company, but oddly enough, it was already taken?

Syzygy... and why such a name was already in use is beyond me.

Nintendo originally approached which company to distribute the Family Computer System in the United States, but was denied?

If you want to talk about how one decision could have changed the face of an industry... this is it. Nintendo produced the Family Computer System in Japan on their own, but was skeptical of entering into the US market due to fear of how they would be embraced by the public, so they approached and actual went into negotiations with Atari to release it as the Nintendo Enhanced Video System. The deal was done and all that needed to happen was for the correct names to sign on the dotted lines, which should have happened at the 1983 Summer CES. At that very show, Coleco displayed their Coleco Adam home computer system; Atari saw Coleco’s design and accused Nintendo of dealing with one of their main competitor’s without their knowledge. The two companies worked their way through the disagreement, but the toll of that year’s video game crash prevented them from fulfilling their end of the agreement, therefore Nintendo went ahead and published the console on their own.

Now, what to do with these Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 DLC codes...
