Atari announces pricing for Star Trek Online

More On: Star Trek Online
With Star Trek Online's release date approaching at warp factor 9.5 it's about time they announced the subscription pricing. There really aren't any surprises here and the system conforms to the industry standard established by Everquest and World of Warcraft: $15 monthly and a slight discount at  $120 for a 12 month subscription.

If you purchase the lifetime subscription before the game launches on February second, it will cost you $240, which is $60 off the standard lifetime price of $300. You also get to play as a captain who's been rescued from the Borg collective--no guarantee that you'll look as good as 7 of 9 in a skintight bodysuit.

After February 2nd a lifetime subscription will always run you $300 so if you were looking to buy one anyway it's a good idea to do it early and save some cash. Personally, I'm still a bit curmudgeonly about this whole MMO subscription thing, especially with a lifetime subscription costing as much as most consoles these days.
