Able Planet came out with the PS500MM headset in December for PC gamers that might actually be good for those that use headphones a lot when gaming. One of the concerns these days are hearing loss due to high volumes in gaming and music. The PS500MM lets you listen at a lower volume with its technology that includes noise cancellation. They are also very lightweight and can be plugged in via USB wireless adapter or two 3.5mm jacks. Sounds like it's got some good flexibility in terms of connections and being able to preserve your hearing while gaming is always a plus. It's available now for $99.

Just last month, a team of nine experts on the European Union's Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) released a study that found that five to ten percent of personal music player listeners risk permanent hearing loss, if they listen to a personal music player for more than one hour per day each week at high volume settings for at least 5 years. The EU has implemented a safety standard that restricting the noise level of headsets for personal devices to 100 dB.
