The 2009 Leipzig Game convention has been
canceled due to pressure from a rival convention. The annual event was the largest gaming convention in Europe and one of the largest in the world but it lost the backing of the German publishing association. I never had the chance to go to one of the shows but reports always made it look like a good show and it was a good way for gamers to get their hands on games early as the show was open to the public (much like the Tokyo Game show). It will be interesting to see if the new event can bring the people like Leipzig did.
