Sword of the Stars: A Murder of Crows takes early flight

Never able to fully regain momentum in a 4X universe owned by Sins of a Solar Empire for the past year, Sword of the Stars (2006) has nevertheless released an expansion, Born of Blood (2007), as well as a Collector's Edition earlier this year.  Digital distributor GamersGate and publisher Lighthouse Interactive cinched up the next expansion's release date:  Sword of the Stars: A Murder of Crows -- not a Hardy Boys misprint -- will now be available this Friday, October 3rd (from October 9th).  You need either Sword of the Stars: Collector's Edition or Born of Blood to play this new one.

NEW YORK—October 1, 2008 –  GamersGate, the leading digital distribution portal, today announced a change in the release date of the highly anticipated second expansion to the popular 4X space strategy game, Sword of the Stars.

 

In an unusual move, GamersGate, in agreement with Sword of the Stars publisher Lighthouse Interactive, has moved the expansion’s release date up to Friday October 3, 2008 at 12:00 am PDT (03:00 am EDT, 09:00 am CET). The game’s original release date was planned for October 9, 2008. The suggested retail price for the Sword of the Stars: A Murder of Crows expansion is $29.99 / €24.99.

 

The Sword of the Stars: A Murder of Crows expansion adds a new race, new ship sections, new weapons, new technologies, and other upgrades to enhance the player’s experience and make Sword of the Stars  the ultimate 4X space strategy game. Players are required to have either Sword of the Stars: Collector’s Edition or Born of Blood in order to play this new addition to the franchise.
