Get Your Kicks with Rock Band 2 Rock the World Xbox Live Weekend

Now that you've had more than a week to practice, Xbox LIVE is challenging you to give your best shot in its Rock Band 2 Rock the World Weekend. The first order of business is to register your gamertag online or through the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Play & Win Sweepstakes. There's a trip for two to New York City to tour MTV studios in for the grand prize winner. Free Microsoft Points are also up for grabs. If you decide to go the XBL Marketplace registration route, make sure you've updated your contact information on your profile and read the directions thuroughly.

The title of the sweepstakes says it all. Starting 12:01 A.M. (ET) on Friday, October 3 until 11:59 P.M. (ET) on Sunday October 5, everyday you play a multiplayer Rock Band 2 match online, you're entered in the contest.

Rock the World weekend is giving you the chance to show off your mad skilz. You'll have a chance to face off against Harmonix Rock Band 2 developers Sunday, October 5 between 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. Eastern Time (11:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. Pacific). After this warm up you can take on members of Panic at the Disco Sunday night, October 5 between the times of 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Personally, I'm not sure whether the devs or the band members are the bigger challenge here. The band will likely perform well for vocals and drums, but using the guitar and bass controllers is nothing like actually playing the instruments. I figure the devs will have a definite advantage there. No matter what, it seems like there's lots of fun to be had all around. I need no encouragement to play Rock Band, so this is all cream.
