There's a New Neo Geo Pocket?

More On:
Famicom Plaza has a bombshell that will make you completely forget about the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS.  It's a brand new Neo Geo Pocket, a portable device that will play some of SNK's biggest hits.  The device has a 4.3 inch screen, two gigabytes of internal storage and will come with twenty classic Neo Geo arcade games.

The list of games includes World Heroes, Ultimete 11 (aka Super Sidekicks 4), Top Player's Golf, Sengoku, Nam '75, Mutation Nation, Last Resort, King of Monsters, Frenzy, Cyber Lip, Fatal Fury Special, Art of Fighting, Super Sidekicks, League Bowling, Metal Slug, Magician Lord, Baseball Stars Professional, Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters '94 and Fatal Fury.

While I was being facetious about this impacting the Vita and 3DS, a new Neo Geo portable is certainly welcome news.  My only real complaint is that most of these games have already been released on the PSP, making this handheld somewhat unnecessary.  Still, the design looks nice and I like that they're bringing back the original Neo Geo Pocket's unconventional D-pad.  Sadly there are no details on a release date or price.

Note: Outside of the Japanese website, SNK has yet to officially announce this device.  This could very well be a Photoshop hoax.  Until SNK comments, you should be skeptical.  On the other hand, if it's real then this really made my day.
