QuakeCon 2012 | John Carmack's Annual Keynote, Featured Panels, and Special Guest Speakers Announced

More On: QuakeCon 2012
QuakeCon 2012 is only a couple short weeks away--August 2nd, to be precise--and id Software has released the show schedule and other details. id's resident genius John Carmack will kick off the fesitivies with a keynote, followed by numerous game design panels with industry names like Ted Price of Insomniac and Chet Faliszek and Tom Leonard from Valve. There will also be live podcasts and the customary epic mega lan, where hundreds of gamers carting their rigs to Texas will engage in a bloody pilgrimage in honor of gaming's oldest deathmatch lineage.

As to games on show, Dishonored and Doom 3 BFG Edition will make a prominent appearance, but I have my fingers crossed for Doom 4. After being strung along by several previous shows focused entirely on Rage, id fans--myself included--are practically climbing the walls for info on the next Doom. Don't get me wrong, I loved Rage, but Doom is practically where I started gaming and I can't wait to see what id has in store with the next installment. Hopefully we'll finally see it for the first time this year...and here's hoping it will also be more satisfying than Quake 4.
