Here's the first developer diary for
Need for Speed World and it's an interesting hook. Instead of having a world populated with magical creatures that you and your friends can hunt and kill the world is a persistent one where you and your friends can race around high speed turns until the cows come home (or the cops pull you over).
I'm still not sold on the concept but I do like that I'll be able to "Beat people over the head with my awesome".
