Modders and homebrewers get ready: Doom 3 source code inbound

It may have taken a while but it appears as if id Software is finally ready to release Doom 3‘s source code to the public. According to a recent Tweet from id’s big man himself, John Carmack:
“doom 3 source is packaged and tested, we are waiting on final lawyer clearance for release.”
With this news, I cannot help but get excited when thinking about what the indie developers will do with the code. There is always at least a couple of excellent projects that result from the official release of a blockbuster PC game’s source code.
